Smukfest cuts Saturday ticket sales by 2,000
Smukfest will sell 2,000 fewer one-day tickets for Saturday at next year’s festival in Skanderborg, the Danish broadcaster DR reported. Saturday is usually the festival’s busiest day.
The festival says the reduction is part of several measures intended to improve the experience for guests, including changes to the site’s physical layout, programming and coordination between stages to improve crowd flow.
At this year’s festival, several people were squeezed during The Minds of 99’s performance on the Bøgescenen stage, watched by 38,000 people. The incident prompted criticism of festival safety.
Smukfest said the problems during that concert were caused not by the number of people but by an unfortunate combination of other factors. Spokesperson and head of content Trine Bang said the decision to reduce Saturday ticket sales was based on the festival’s audience survey and its experience. Saturday was the day when the most guests said they had felt there were too many people.
Smukfest 2027 is scheduled to run from August 1 to 8.
