Faroese produce, food, schools

Matvitan, a new food initiative focused on serving children in Faroese day-care centres and schools, is starting with 10 tonnes of root vegetables, KVF reports.

Joan Sørensen of Grøna matveitingin and chef Poul Andrias Ziska of Paz have joined forces to provide children with good food and promote knowledge of Faroese ingredients. Matvitan aims to supply food as well as information about good food and local produce.

The initiative is based in the kitchen of the former secondary school in Hoydalar. Its founders are seeking crowdfunding to modernise the kitchen.
