Tórshavn’s pedestrian street will be closed to cars in July and December under a trial plan, KVF reports. The proposal is due for a second reading at the town council meeting on Thursday, when funding for the project will be allocated. It was approved on 17 September.
The car-free section will be Niels Finsens gøta, from the town hall to Steinatún. Vehicles will be able to travel from Tinghúsvegur along Sverrisgøta to Tórsgøta.
The project will cost 300,000. The first trial day is planned for December this year, followed by another in July next year.
