Turku Cathedral’s Christmas tree has been found in Aura and will be more than 20 metres tall, Yle reports.
Jaana Saraste, a worksite manager at Kuntec, said the tree was offered to the city. About 10 trees have been offered this year, including two last week. Kuntec is still accepting offers because a suitable tree for the country’s main Christmas tree is generally difficult to find.
The tree will be collected on Wednesday, November 25, and placed in its usual spot despite renovation work at the cathedral. Its lights will be switched on Saturday, November 28.
The city has set aside at least 25,000 euros for collecting the tree. Turku has secured its tree while Helsinki has only just announced that it is looking for trees for Senate Square and outside Hakaniemi Market Hall.
Last year’s tree came from Mynämäki, which supplied the tree for the third consecutive year.
