Thursday brings sunshine east and drizzle to Lapland

Finland will see sharply different weather on Thursday, with sunshine in the east and drizzle across much of Lapland, Yle reports.

After morning fog, low clouds are expected to become more widespread in western Finland during the afternoon. The east and parts of Uusimaa will have sunshine, while Lapland will remain mostly grey and drizzly. Clouds may break up slightly in some parts of the west towards evening, Yle meteorologist Laura Tuomola said.

Temperatures will rise a little above 10 degrees Celsius near the southern coast, but remain below that elsewhere.

Cloud cover will increase in some areas on Friday, though local forecasts are uncertain because conditions are variable. Central Finland and Uusimaa face a small risk of scattered local showers in the afternoon. Highs will range from 2 to 11 degrees. Rain is expected to reach southern Finland on Friday evening.
