Nearly half of children and young people aged 11 to 17 use artificial intelligence every day, according to a survey reported by Yle.

About 80 per cent of respondents said they use AI, most often to search for information or help with schoolwork.

Nearly two in five respondents of primary and lower secondary school age said they could not distinguish AI-generated content from genuine images and videos. Among all respondents, the figure was one-third.

More than half said they trust information provided by AI. Boys reported trusting it slightly more often than girls.

E2 Research conducted the survey using an online panel in September. More than 1,000 children and young people aged 11 to 17 took part. The survey was commissioned by Digirauha and Itla.
