Planned healthcare savings next year could affect seven or eight jobs and slow improvements in hospital services, Kringvarp Føroya (KVF) reports.

Five or six positions at the National Hospital, one at Klaksvík Hospital and one at Suðuroy Hospital could be affected. Health Minister Eyðdis Hartmann Niclasen said waiting lists would not fall as quickly as people might hope.

Former health minister Sirið Stenberg said the cuts would undermine the development made in the hospital system in recent years. She was responding after Niclasen answered a parliamentary question about the consequences of the planned savings.
