Planned savings in the healthcare system will affect patients and slow development in the hospital system in recent years, Sirið Stenberg said, according to KVF.

Stenberg made the remarks after Health Minister Eyðdis Hartmann Niclasen answered a section 52 question about the effects of the government’s planned cuts next year.

The cuts are expected to cost seven or eight jobs: five or six at the National Hospital, one at Klaksvík Hospital and one at Suðuroy Hospital.

“Waiting lists will not fall as quickly as one might have hoped,” Niclasen said. She was speaking on a radio programme.
