Ingvar partly agrees with Jón Gnarr’s criticism
Viðreisn MP Ingvar Þóroddsson says communication and information-sharing within the party’s parliamentary group have been inadequate in some respects, agreeing in part with criticism raised by Jón Gnarr after he left the group. Ingvar described Jón’s departure as a major blow and said the disagreement was mainly about working methods, not ideology, in an interview with mbl.is.
“I can certainly agree with some of what he says about information-sharing and, at times, a lack of communication. There are other things I recognise less,” Ingvar said.
He said the parliamentary group had set up a strategy team, led by Jón, to assess the situation and consider ways to improve its internal work. Ingvar said it was unfortunate that Jón had chosen not to see the work through, but added that the other members would continue. He said he had spoken with the group and looked forward to seeing its proposals.
Ingvar said Jón remained a member of Viðreisn and considered the party closest to him ideologically. While he had not read Jón’s column in Morgunblaðið when mbl.is spoke to him, Ingvar said he understood the dispute to concern working methods and what Jón had described as a lack of leadership.
Ingvar said he did not rule out Jón returning to the parliamentary group if the problems he had raised could be resolved. “I feel that the conversations are positive,” he said.
