GPS collars could bring invisible fences to sheep farming

Norwegian research suggests sheep can learn to stay within digital boundaries using GPS collars and audio warnings, KVF reports. The findings will be discussed at the Nordic sheep conference InterNorden, which began this morning at Hotel Føroyar.

Jens Ivan í Gerðinum, an agricultural adviser at Búnaðarstovan, is organising the conference.

InterNorden was first held in 1948. Its seven member countries take turns hosting the event, which is being held in the Faroe Islands for the third time. Previous conferences there took place in 1994 and 2012.
