Closing Landsverk’s project department and transferring its work to government ministries could cause expertise to become fragmented, Jacob Vestergaard said in a response to MP Sirið Stenberg, according to KVF.

Vestergaard, a government minister, said each ministry would have to build its own expertise in managing large construction projects and working with external construction advisers. This could lead to institutional knowledge being lost and make the system more dependent on individuals.

The reorganisation is also likely to affect, at least initially, ongoing operations, projects already under way and projects in preparation, he said.

Vestergaard reiterated that the coalition had immediately decided to move building administration from Landsverk to the ministries, despite a working group appointed by the previous prime minister concluding that the existing arrangement, with Landsverk as the construction client, was the best option.
