Faroes, fishing, unemployment support

Fishermen will receive increased support when their ships are laid up for repairs, KVF reports.

Under a proposal sent for consultation by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Housing, unemployment support would become available after 15 days, instead of 30. The maximum support period for each repair would rise from 60 days to 90.

The current regulation on payments to fishermen whose ships are laid up for repairs dates from 2009.
