Physiotherapy prices rose and service quality declined after company ownership changes, according to a study by Kela reported by Yle.
Physiotherapy companies that had bid in Kela tenders increased their offered prices by an average of about 4 percent after a change of ownership. Their quality scores in the tenders fell markedly.
The lower scores included reduced investment in staff training, the study said. In 2023, Kela bought more than 64 million euros’ worth of physiotherapy for demanding medical rehabilitation from private providers.
