Magasin says unauthorised people accessed parts of its IT systems, potentially exposing personal information belonging to members of its Goodie customer club, DR reports.
In an email seen by DR, the department store said the intruders gained access a few days ago and encrypted some systems, making them unavailable to the company. Information that may have been accessed includes customers’ names, addresses and details of previous purchases.
Credit card details were not affected because they are stored in separate systems, the email said. The incident has not disrupted operations at Magasin’s department stores or online platforms.
Magasin urged affected customers to change their account passwords and be cautious about messages, emails and phone calls, as the exposed information could make phishing attempts more convincing. The company said it is working with external experts to address the incident and restore access to the systems.
The breach has been reported to the police and the Danish Data Protection Agency. DR said it was seeking comment from Magasin.
