A rescue crew brought a disabled fishing vessel to Dalvík after fishing gear became caught in its propeller, mbl.is reported.

The 475-tonne Hildur SH777 was midway between Siglufjörður and Grímsey when it lost power. Its eight crew members were not in danger, and the weather was good, according to Jón Þór Víglundsson, a spokesperson for the rescue association Landsbjörg.

The rescue ship Sigurvin reached Hildur at about 11 a.m. on Tuesday. The crews connected the vessels with a line and headed for Dalvík, arriving shortly after 4 p.m. The journey was slow but safe.

Sigurvin’s crew moved the rescue ship alongside Hildur to help control it while bringing it to the quay. Sigurvin was then preparing to return to Siglufjörður and get ready for another callout.

Sigurvin is one of Landsbjörg’s new rescue ships, which weigh just over 30 tonnes.
