The Faroe Islands, the UK, the EU, Greenland, Iceland and Norway are holding talks on mackerel in London, KVF reported. The negotiations continue on Wednesday and Thursday.

Last week, the coastal states agreed on total quotas for blue whiting and herring in 2027, following recommendations from fishery scientists at ICES. The total quota for blue whiting is 1,064,191 tonnes, while the herring quota is 588,004 tonnes.

Under the current allocation, the Faroese blue whiting quota will be just under 380,000 tonnes, 75,000 tonnes more than this year. Its herring quota will be just under 60,000 tonnes, an increase of a little over 5,000 tonnes.
