Iceland’s ambassador to Poland condemned a Russian drone attack in Ukraine that killed six people, including two children, according to mbl.is. Friðrik Jónsson shared a post by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Facebook on Monday and urged people not to look away from the images of the victims.

The attack struck a public park near a café in Kharkiv, the post said. Six people were killed, including a one-year-old girl and an 11-year-old child. Fourteen others were injured, among them six children.

Jónsson condemned the attack in strong terms, calling those responsible “the worst kind of villains and beasts”. He said some people wanted to reward such behaviour or overlook it for the sake of business interests, and that others wanted to excuse it because Russia had once been an old-style empire.

He also criticised those who he said believed the victims should accept the attack in the name of peace.
