Jón Gnarr has not ruled out returning to Viðreisn’s parliamentary group, but says he has no interest in joining another party, mbl.is reported. He left the group on Thursday but remains a member of Viðreisn.

Speaking at the parliament building, Gnarr said he was taking time to reflect on recent events, listen to others and seek advice before deciding what to do next. Asked if he could return to the group, he said: “Yes, I don’t rule it out.”

Asked whether other parties had shown interest in him, Gnarr said he had received a few hints, but wanted to make clear that there was no point trying to win him over. “Going out to dinner with me is like going out with a nun. Nothing is going to happen,” he said.

Gnarr said he sensed some unease and uncertainty after leaving the group but had not experienced hostility towards him. He had seen nothing to suggest others would follow his example, though he did not rule it out.

He described himself as being in a period of great uncertainty, recalling that he had faced a similar crossroads when he left the post of Reykjavik mayor without knowing what would come next. Gnarr said he would take one step at a time and choose the path he considered right, even if it involved risk.

“I would rather take a risky path that feels true than a safe path that feels pointless,” he said.
