Police investigate suspected drunk driving in fatal Orimattila crash

Police suspect drunk driving in a crash in Orimattila that killed one person and seriously injured three others, Yle reported. The four people in the car were around 20 years old, police said Monday.

The car left Highway 4 early on Sunday, veering into the motorway’s central reservation a few kilometres south of the Luhtikylä interchange. It then crossed a forest road running beneath the motorway and hit the edge of an embankment.

Police are investigating suspected aggravated endangerment of traffic safety, aggravated causing of death, aggravated causing of bodily injury and drunk driving. They have not been able to interview the injured people and are treating the case as a death investigation. Police said they would not release further information for now.
