Bomb threats were sent to several companies and institutions last week, mbl.is reports. Police assessed the threats, including with the help of bomb experts from the National Commissioner of Police’s Special Unit, but say there is no current reason for further action.

Helena Rós Sturludóttir, communications director for the National Commissioner of Police, said the threats were reviewed and assessed. Based on the information available, police did not consider further action necessary at this stage.

The Ministry of Justice received a threat by email at 11.30am on Wednesday. Freyr Gígja Gunnarsson, the ministry’s communications officer, said it was written in simple English and sent to the ministry’s general email address. The ministry activated its procedures, but decided no further response was needed. Staff reacted calmly, he said.

The Prime Minister’s Office also received an email on Wednesday containing a message that could be interpreted as a threat, according to its communications officer, Sighvatur Arnmundsson. He said the message was the same as the one sent to the Ministry of Justice. Police assessed it and concluded that no further action was required.

RÚV first reported the threats and also said that the company Advania had received one.
