Yle is seeking accounts from people who have been choked without their consent during sex or another sexual situation. The broadcaster says sexual choking has become more common among young adults and can be life-threatening, citing a recent article in the Finnish Medical Journal.

Sex that began consensually may become a crime if an agreement is not followed or choking was not agreed to, Yle reports.

People with relevant experiences can contact journalist Mari Jäntti confidentially at [email protected] or respond to Yle’s form. Information will be used only for journalistic content and handled only by the people producing it. A reporter will contact respondents separately if their answers are used in a story. Yle says it will not share contact details outside the newsroom.
