A district court in Satakunta has remanded a man in his 60s suspected of six sexual offences involving children, Yle reports.

Southwestern Finland Police received a call on Sunday evening about a man allegedly committing sexual acts against children in the Asemanmäki area of Pomarkku. Officers arrested him a few hours later, after he had left the area.

The suspected offences include sexual assault of a child, one of them aggravated. Several elementary-school-aged children are complainants in the cases. One of the suspected offences is an aggravated sexual assault of a child that allegedly took place in Pomarkku over the weekend.

Police say the suspect has a previous criminal history involving similar cases. Prosecutors must bring charges by January 4.
