Jón Gnarr will continue supporting the government and keep his committee roles after leaving Viðreisn’s parliamentary group, under a cooperation agreement he signed with the group, mbl.is reports.

Viðreisn parliamentary group chairman Pawel Bartoszek said the agreement commits Gnarr to support the government, including its budget and supplementary budgets, and to attend votes on government policy matters set out in the coalition agreement. Gnarr can also continue to receive administrative and expert support from Viðreisn staff if he requests it.

Gnarr will remain on the Constitutional and Supervisory Committee and the Thingvellir Committee, and continue to lead Iceland’s delegation to the West Nordic Council. Bartoszek said the group trusted him to carry out those responsibilities.

Bartoszek said he was sorry to see Gnarr leave the group, describing him as a valued politician and colleague. He added that the group’s doors would remain open if Gnarr wished to return.
