A former Sweden Democrats MP is suspected of filming naked children, according to SVT. Prosecutors have opened a preliminary investigation into alleged intrusive photography, in addition to an existing child pornography investigation.
Court documents show the alleged photography offences took place on several occasions over the past five years. SVT reports that police found material produced by the suspect depicting naked children among electronic devices seized during the investigation.
Prosecutor Lena Körner confirmed that investigators have identified alleged victims but declined to give their number or comment on whether they are children, saying the case was sensitive.
The investigation began after a tip from the US organisation NCMEC, followed by a police search and the seizure of several electronic devices. SVT reported in early June that the suspect was a parliamentarian who had held several senior roles for the Sweden Democrats. He left all his political positions the following day.
It is not clear how the suspect responds to the allegations. SVT said it had contacted his defence lawyer and the victims’ legal representative.
