First winter snow covers Esja

Esja, a mountain, was covered in its first winter snow overnight after an autumn storm, mbl.is reported. A photograph taken this morning showed snow on the mountain.

A meteorologist at the Icelandic Met Office said temperatures are expected to rise today and tomorrow, but it will probably remain cold at higher elevations. Some snow is likely to stay on Esja’s upper slopes for now, though it is unlikely to last until Christmas.
