Leivur Haldórsson hopes his story can help prevent drug misuse

Leivur Haldórsson, who has injected drugs for many years, hopes a new television programme will show how badly things can go and help prevent substance misuse, KVF reports.

Haldórsson is the central figure in the programme, which focuses on substance misuse. Martin Kúrberg, head of Herberginum shelter, says Haldórsson’s story is not unique and that it is important to have the courage to talk about the issue.

The full programme will air after Dag og viku on television tonight. “Leivur vil liva” (“Leivur wants to live”) is already available on KVF Sjón.
