Gráisteinur, the company that owns the pelagic fishing vessel Birita, has been sold to companies behind two other vessels, KVF reports.

The company behind Vestmenning is to hold a 40 per cent share, while the company behind Arctic Voyager will own 60 per cent. The Fishermen’s Association reports that the purchase price is between 250 million and 300 million kroner.

Earlier this year, Gráisteinur was expected to join a new large shipping company with Ango and half of the company Kinnfelli. The Competition Authority had approved the plan, but the merger did not go ahead.
