executive appointment, Iceland, Landsvirkjun

Landsvirkjun is advertising for a new chief executive in a full-page notice in Morgunblaðið, mbl.is reported on Thursday.

Hörður Arnarson, who has led the company for 17 years, announced earlier this month that he was stepping down. He will remain in the role until the end of October.

Deputy chief executive Kristín Linda Árnadóttir is due to take over on an interim basis on 1 November.

The advertisement calls for substantial, successful experience in management and operations; leadership based on trust, delegation and bringing out the best in people; and a proven record in change management and implementing strategy. It also seeks experience with major investments, finance and contract negotiations, as well as an understanding of how energy issues intersect with business, politics and society.

The application deadline is 1 November.
