A 21-year-old man has been charged with multiple counts of rape. He is scheduled to appear in the Faroese court on Monday, September 2. The entire week has been allocated for the trial proceedings.

This trial, known as a “nevningating,” occurs when the prosecution seeks at least four years of unconditional imprisonment for the accused.

The man was arrested in October of the previous year and has been in detention ever since. Last week, the Faroese court ruled that he would remain in custody for four more weeks.

While the man faces several charges of rape, the prosecution has not disclosed the exact number of incidents nor the dates or locations where they allegedly occurred. The accused maintains his innocence.
