A house in Siglufjörður lost its roof in Wednesday’s storm, mbl.is reported. The owners, Viggó Jónsson and his wife, Vibekka, were taken by surprise when people in the town contacted them with the news.
The couple have moved away from Siglufjörður and are trying to sell the house, which stands on Hvanneyrarbraut. They had only seen pictures of the damage and did not know the house’s current condition, Viggó told mbl.is.
The house is rented by Óskar Þórðarson, and two badminton coaches are currently staying there. After the roof was blown off, Óskar’s son picked them up and they went to stay at Óskar’s home.
One of the coaches was inside playing PlayStation when the house began to shake, Óskar said. The roof had not yet blown off, but things started happening soon after.
