Police warn waves could reach land near Vík
Police in southern Iceland are warning of high sea levels and large waves near the south coast later today and into the evening, mbl.is reports. They say the sea could reach land near Vík í Mýrdal.
The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration forecast a high, heavy southerly swell of more than eight metres just offshore from Vík. Wave heights are expected to peak at about 9pm.
Similar conditions flooded the main road in December last year.
