The Faroese government has proposed a 5,000-kroner energy supplement for low-income households, KVF reports. The support is intended to help people under financial pressure as oil prices reach record highs.

Margit Stóra, minister for social and housing affairs, has submitted the proposal to Parliament. It is expected to be presented shortly.

Under the proposal, households with an income of 300,000 kroner that meet the other eligibility requirements would receive the payment. Finance Minister Aksel V. Johannesen estimates the package would cost the government two million kroner.
