RÚV is working to improve air quality at its building in Efstaleiti after staff reported poor conditions in parts of the building, mbl.is reports.
Employees have described the air as “stuffy and unpleasant” and say it has affected their work. Measures including installing air filters and replacing carpet tiles have not been enough. The air is better than before, but staff say more needs to be done.
The issue was discussed at a RÚV board meeting in August, but it has not yet been resolved.
RÚV director-general Stefán Eiríksson said in a written response to Morgunblaðið that improvement work was proceeding as planned. Specialists carried out inspections and measurements after staff raised concerns, and an assessor recommended measures to address the shortcomings. Repairs to the building’s north side were carried out over the summer, he said.
