Iceland forecasts severe gales in western regions

mbl.is reports that Iceland’s Meteorological Office is forecasting northeasterly winds reaching severe-gale force on the Westfjords peninsula, in the Dali region and on the Snæfellsnes peninsula from around midday until late tonight.

A forecaster advised travellers to expect heavy snowfall and blizzard conditions on mountain roads. In the north, snow and blowing snow are expected to reach close to populated areas, with conditions continuing in the northeast until tomorrow morning.
