Rising fuel prices helped push annual inflation to 2.5% in September, up from 2.2% in August, Yle reported.

Statistics Finland said higher fuel prices were the main factor behind the acceleration. Fuel for private vehicles cost an average of 32.7% more than a year earlier and rose 6.8% from August, according to the consumer price index.

The agency also said heating costs could affect household finances as the weather gets colder.
