Part of Suðurlandsvegur to close for resurfacing Thursday

Part of Suðurlandsvegur, the road between Selfoss and Hveragerði, will close to traffic on Thursday for asphalt repairs, mbl.is reports. The work by Colas is planned from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., weather permitting.
The road will be closed from Selfoss towards Hveragerði while the work is under way. A detour will be available via Ölfusvegur. Closures are planned near Biskupstungnabraut, Þórustaðanámu, Hvammsvegur and Kirkjuferjuvegur.
Information signs will be put up and detours marked. The work areas are narrow, with workers and machinery operating close to traffic lanes. Drivers are asked to follow signs and speed limits and take care near the work sites.
