Klitmøller IF has sold 500 club shirts in a few months, with proceeds going towards a new clubhouse, DR reports. The sports association was allowed to print the logo of band Hugorm on the back of the shirts.
Simon Kvamm, who performs with Hugorm, has worn the club shirt on stage. He lived in the surfing town of Klitmøller for four years and previously played for the club, including on its old boys team and in one Series 2 match.
“It was probably almost decisive that we got permission,” said Michael Konradsen, the club’s chairman. He said the negotiations over the logo rights were relatively straightforward because of Kvamm’s connection to the club.
The shirt sales are expected to bring in around 100,000 kroner. The clubhouse project is estimated to cost 10 million kroner, and the club hopes to raise two million itself before asking foundations to provide the rest.
The club ordered 250,000 kroner worth of shirts and initially worried about whether they would sell. Konradsen said that would have been embarrassing if fewer than 50 had been sold. The club has also had to work out which sizes are in demand.
The new clubhouse is needed because one changing room dates from the 1970s and the newest from 1990. Teams are sometimes told there are no changing facilities available and that they will have to shower at home. The club hopes to begin construction in early 2027.
