More than 70% of respondents were dissatisfied with Inga Sæland’s performance as leader of the People’s Party, according to a new Maskína poll reported by mbl.is. The article said Vísir first reported the findings. The poll also found rising dissatisfaction with the leaders of all parties in Iceland’s governing coalition.
Maskína asked respondents how well or poorly the leaders of political parties in parliament had performed during the current term. A comparable survey was conducted a year ago.
Discontent with Sæland rose sharply: 71% said she had performed poorly, up from 47% last year.
Dissatisfaction with Lilja Alfreðsdóttir, who took over as leader of the Progressive Party from Sigurður Ingi Jóhannesson, has fallen.
Nearly 44% said Viðreisn leader Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir had performed poorly, compared with 33% last year. Dissatisfaction with Social Democratic Alliance leader Kristrún Frostadóttir rose to 35%, from 21%.
Views of Independence Party leader Guðrún Hafsteinsdóttir and Centre Party leader Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson changed little. Nearly 60% of respondents were dissatisfied with each of their performances.
