Britax Römer is recalling an unspecified number of Baby Safe Pro infant car seats after crash tests showed the harness buckle could release, throwing a crash-test dummy from the seat, SVT reports.

The recall covers seats made between December 26, 2025, and September 30, 2026, when used with the Vario Base 5Z. The seats are intended for babies up to 15 months old.

Tests by the magazine Råd & Rön found that the buckle came undone in a frontal crash when the seat was reclined. It stayed fastened when the seat was upright, or when the seat was installed using the car’s seat belt instead of the base.

Britax Römer says the recalled seats can still be used in an upright position with the base, or without the base. The company said it would provide more information in the coming days.
