Central Ostrobothnia’s wellbeing services county has received state approval to cover its accumulated deficits by the end of 2028, Yle reports.

The county, also known as Soite, has a deficit of more than 27 million euros.

County director Mikko Komulainen said the county was pleased with the decision, although it had initially sought an extension until the end of 2029. He said most wellbeing services counties had not been granted that much time.

Komulainen said he was pleased that the Ministry of Finance believed the county could continue operating and balance its finances by the end of 2028 under its existing plans.
