Forty years after the 1986 leaders’ summit at Höfði, an annual peace conference will examine its lessons, mbl.is reports.
The Imagine Forum is being held today by the Institute of International Affairs and the Höfði Peace Centre, in cooperation with Iceland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the City of Reykjavík. This year, the Office of the President of Iceland and the University of Iceland’s Institute of History are also partners.
The conference will look back at the summit and consider whether countries can still pursue diplomatic solutions amid rising global tensions, as well as the future of international disarmament agreements and peace efforts.
