The first week of schools’ autumn break is starting in chilly weather, with rain moving from the south towards the southeast on Monday, Yle reports.
Rain is expected near the southern coast, shifting towards the southeast by evening. The south will be windy, while the sun will appear in places in the north and along the west coast.
Highs will range from 0 to 7 degrees across the country. Although the weather will feel cold, these temperatures are mostly normal for the time of year.
Overnight into Tuesday, showers will skirt the eastern border, with a small chance of snow close to the border. Tuesday is expected to be mostly dry, with sunny skies in the west and across much of Lapland. Temperatures will remain below 10 degrees.
