LGBT+ Føroyar, Tórshavn, vandalism

Insults and swastikas have been drawn on the rainbow-painted pedestrian crossing at Steinatún in Tórshavn, KVF reports. Police have opened a case under Section 266 b.

Ester Margret Petersen, a board member of LGBT+ Føroyar, said the organisation regretted the continuing harassment. Tórshavn Mayor Elsa Berg said the municipality would paint over the markings again.

Sigri Gaini, a PhD in freedom of speech and hate speech, said the acts amounted to hate speech and were likely covered by Section 266 b.

Police said they want to hear from anyone who saw anything connected with the vandalism.
