Police detain armed man after attempted apartment break-in

A man armed with a knife and a hammer was held in a police cell after trying to break into an apartment in Kópavogur overnight, mbl.is reports.

The incident was among those listed in the Capital Region police log. In the Háaleiti and Bústaðir neighbourhoods, one person was arrested on suspicion of assault and violating weapons laws. Another man was arrested on suspicion of assault in the city centre.

Police also assisted a man in central Reykjavík who was extremely drunk and unable to care for himself. Officers drove him home.
