Iceland, LOGOS, Ragnar Jónasson

Lawyer and author Ragnar Jónasson has joined the law firm LOGOS as a special adviser, mbl.is reports. He will work on specific business development projects in collaboration with the firm’s owners and managing director.

Jónasson has extensive experience in legal work in the business sector. He previously worked in corporate finance at Arion Bank, served as GAMMA’s general counsel, and held roles as head of the office of Kaupthing’s winding-up committee and head of legal advisory services at Arion Bank. He began his career at Kaupthing in corporate finance and its legal department.

He holds a law degree from the University of Iceland and teaches at Reykjavik University’s law faculty.

LOGOS managing director Jón Elvar Guðmundsson said the appointment would strengthen the expertise and experience the firm brings to its work with clients. He said Jónasson’s experience advising both individuals and companies, gained over a long career in financial services, would be valuable in the role.

Jónasson has devoted much of recent years to writing and has found success abroad. His books have been published in 35 countries, and he has promoted them at events and in media around the world. He said writing and related travel had taken up most of his time in recent years, but that he had kept up his legal knowledge and taught part-time at Reykjavik University for more than 15 years. He welcomed the opportunity to take on selected legal projects at LOGOS alongside his writing.
