Reaching a free trade agreement with the United States will be difficult, although US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has indicated that the countries could negotiate limited free trade, Morgunblaðið reports.

Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson, leader of Iceland’s Centre Party, told Morgunblaðið this in response to Rubio’s remarks that a free trade agreement was not in the works with Iceland or any other country.

Rubio made the comments at a news conference during a recent visit to Iceland.
