Rescuers pull man from sea in Helsinki

A man was rescued from the sea in Helsinki on Friday evening after holding on to a board near Tammasaari quay in the Ruoholahti district, Yle reported.

Authorities received an alert at 8.44pm after a passer-by called the emergency services. Police and rescue service patrols reached the man first and pulled him from the water quickly, a Coast Guard sea rescue director told Yle.

The man was conscious after the rescue and was handed over to emergency medical services. Authorities said they could not comment on his precise condition. The reason he entered the water is unknown.
