Klaksvik Hospital has carried out its first genetic test on a newborn in the Faroe Islands, KVF reports. “This is groundbreaking,” said Hanna Brandal, deputy head of the hospital’s laboratory.
Genetic tests are now being carried out in the Faroe Islands for four diseases that are common there, including CTD. The tests take a few days.
All newborns have blood taken from a heel prick and sent to Denmark for testing for 25 diseases.
