Police hold one person pending deportation after inspections

One person has been remanded in custody and is awaiting deportation after joint inspections of car rental companies and accommodation providers in the Suðurnes police district, mbl.is reported.

Police, the tax authority and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration took part in the inspections. Police said they dealt with five foreign nationals who did not have permits to work in Iceland, as well as their employers.

Four of the five were released after questioning. The fifth was remanded in custody.
