Nordic public service media companies are deepening cooperation to prepare for crises, including cyber threats and disinformation, Yle reports.
The countries have also committed to helping their neighbours during a crisis. If people lose access to news and information sources in their own country, they could receive news through another country’s public broadcaster.
For example, Finns could get news through Norway’s public broadcaster if they could not access Yle’s news service.
The companies said editorial independence is a guiding principle of the agreement. Cooperation does not mean one broadcaster can decide what another broadcasts.
